loL.

I think i might start shooting people for using terrible grammar.
yes, i don't have the best grammar. but it's better than a lot of other people on here. i'm not trying to write a letter to the pres. or anything. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

back in 2nd grade.... i was good all day in Mrs. Jackson's class... I earned 10 stickers... during recess I saw this kid trying to take some of my stickers... of course I shot his ***... unfortunately that was back when teachers still gave spankings..

faulkton, in some ways i agree, in others i disagree.
I understand your point, that you should let the legal system do its job, and that if we let this slide, then hell why not let everything slide.

But the problem is, the legal system is not perfect, far from it. You of all people should know with that avatar. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Of course the legal system isn't perfect, but it has proven itself FAR better than vigilanteism.

i care. i worked my a$$ of for the stuff i have, as well i hope u did to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif it really pisses me off when i work 2 jobs to afford the stuff i have and some lazy punk comes by and takes what i've worked so hard for. thats just my opion though.
That is what insurance is for.

A small amount of consumer goods isn't worth a life.

Bah... he shouldn't have killed them... they shouldn't have broken in and stolen shit.

I don't feel sorry for them, they earned what they got. And he's gonna go to jail, which he probably should.

This, sadly, is the kind of shit that happens when you judge that you deserve someone's shit more than they deserve it.

HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION

you can only answer A or B

Your walking back to your car (or whatever mode of transportation you may own) and you see someone trying to steal it. It's not a "is he trying to steal my car?" feeling, it's a "that jackass is trying to steal my car!" feeling. You know he's trying to steal it.

You, luckily have a knife with you. You run up to your car and tell him to get out.

He tells you to get the **** out of here or he'll beat the shit out of you (taking your keys in the process, which is most likely an afterthought to you). You tell him to just get out and leave. You omit the part about a knife.

He pushes hard to get you to go away and he tells you to get the **** out of here.

you get back up and tell him to leave, and he lunges at you.

Do you

A) use your knife and injure him, seriously or possibly fatally.

B) wrestle your way free and run away, knowing that you car (or transportation) is lost to you.

Okay... one more for you.
Lets say it wasn't just a few things... but everything you have. Lets also say your insurance didn't cover a *large* portion of it. Say, for instance, you ran a home based business and that sort of thing isn't covered by home-owners. Lets say you got cleaned out. But... you owe people money for the inventory, lets just say it's alot -- over $100k, interest bearing. Basically, the robbery would screw you up for the rest of your life. It's not just stuff... that would be your life, ruined. Stuff can be "more than just stuff."

Now... it's the principle. These guys weren't pulling a huge heist that day... but they get away with it today, who says they won't move up to big jobs? They probably will, if they got away.

I'm not arguing to banish the system. But, if someone witnesses some stuff going down you can't expect them to just SIT there -- especially if it is right next to them and someone they know well being affected.

Maybe you disagree *shrugs* thats fine. If my neighbor was being robbed and I could do something about it, I would. But maybe I give a crap about my neighbors and you don't? Maybe killing them wasn't the best idea... of course, with a shot-gun aiming at certain areas is a bit hard.
Wow... you went through great lengths to say that you think materials are worth more than life.

I don't expect them to just sit there; i would expect them to call the police.

Calling the police is exactly what i would expect my neighbor to do; I wouldn't expect, or want, them to kill anyone without even knowing for sure what the hell is going on.

Seriously, i have entered friends houses through an unlocked window several times with their permission.

Another example is when i got locked out of my parents house soon after moving into the neighborhood. I ended up kicking in the front door, so i could get inside. A neighbor actually did call the police and i am glad they did that instead of shooting me.

they didn't see you walking out with stuff did they? He didn't just go over their the minute he saw them break in, he went over there when he saw them jacking there stuff.

did you climb out the window again with a bag full of stuff though?

Wow... you went through great lengths to say that you think materials are worth more than life.
Not really -- but you seem to think it's okay to steal and be a scum-bag. If someone is going to potentially ruin my life I will kill them, yes, absolutely. You wouldn't?

Lets say I'm going to burn down your house, bomb your car, wipe out all funds from your bank account, ruin your credit history to the point where you can't recover, and enter false data into your criminal record so you can't get a decent job. Don't ask how... lets just say I could do it. The only way you can stop me is to shoot me. Would you?

What if I was just in your house robbing you? Lets say you had a gun and I didn't. I wasn't stopping... you couldn't ID me, and you knew the police weren't there. Lets say it was something important and you CAN'T replace it. So, I should be allowed to walk away?

Now... where do you draw the line, and how? Thats the question where there is disagreement. I don't think he SHOULD have killed the guys -- done something about it if he could, yes. Fact is, he did kill them -- but he was just protecting his neighborhood. You have to draw the line somewhere.
