ok, maybe he shouldn't of shot them, but u know the police are going to take they're sweet azz time getting there. also, all the perps are going to get is a slap on the hand. what the hell is that going to teach anyone. nothing IMHO. if it was me, i probably woulda held em at gunpoint, possibly put them under citizens arrest. however, i have no clue how that work. but u know, if this guy didn't do anything about it, his neighbor would never see his stuff again.

the average response time i believe in my neck of the woods is around 12-15 minutes i believe. thats from the beginning (when they receive the call to when they get there).

while it's not bad, (if you think about it), they most likely would have gotten away. 30 seconds is a long time when somebody is driving in the suburbs trying to get away.

Listen to the 911 tape, the cops show up right after he shoots. They most likely would have been caught.

Nonetheless, even if they would have gotten away and the neighbor "would never see his stuff again" its only stuff and not worth a human life. The mothers of the dead robbers will never see their sons again, and over what, probably like a DVD player and a camera.

Thankfully we do not live in the Arab world where people are stoned to death for minor crimes. If you want that type of justice try moving to Iran.

let them get away... if its really about safety... then you let them leave... get the car and plates... he took the law into his own hands

In an ideal world the police would have shown up immediately and taken care of it. This guy obviously didn't believe in the system, and for good reason as it fails every day. I would like to think that our system is a good "social contract" and that "justice" is done -- but it isn't.

This guy did what he thought was right... killing a scum-bag thief that is robbing your neighbor isn't murder, IMO. Maybe not exactly "good form" -- but if these guys got away with it they might be back for the guy in question, so I can understand him wanting to take care of business in his neighborhood.

Just ask yourself... if a robber was walking off with YOUR stuff -- would you be grateful if your neighbor shot the scum-bags? Or if he just watched them run off?

the mothers of the dead robbers should have done a better job educating there sons on what the **** is right and what the **** is wrong.

there is no thin line between breaking into someones house and being a good boy.
