Because you think animals are irrelevant and I think they are relevant.
Well that's where we differ. Luckily for me it's currently legal and I don't see it getting outlawed any time soon, even if they make it a pain in the *** (I live in Oregon, they try to make it a pain in the ***...)

Sounds honorable.
The only thing I don't like about hunting is when people call it a sport without incorporating mechanisms for fairness.

Shooting a deer because you enjoy the taste of venison is completely appropriate.
Well there is alot of skill involved in most hunts. For Big game it's tracking skills and shooting skills. Many big game shots are at over 100yards. For ducks it's picking the right spot, being well hidden, being able to properly call and decoy the ducks (they are smarter than you think) etc etc... Maybe the weakest form of hunting is small rodents because they are plentiful and stupid...

Paying for other's skill in hunting, simply to allow you to take a pot shot at some animal is a little lame though. I suppose it could be nice if it was a 1 time thing (I **** at fishing and would pay a guide if I was in say Alaska)..

Also ALL big game hunters I know are very excited to have the venison.... I was raised with "If you shoot it you eat it".... I don't adhere to that completely becuase we give ducks to others who eat them and keep some for training the dog...

But in sports, both competitors should have a chance at winning? Or atleast the benefit for victory/loss should be equitable.

The best victory for the prey is to live another day.

The worse loss for a hunter is wasted time.

The situation is rare when the prey kills the hunter.

I figured it was a little too preachy to be you, so I cut & pasted the first two sentences into google. That was link 3 I think.
But yeah, WHOEVER first made that statement is full of shit. Sadly n00bs will continue to argue against you for posting it.
exactly.

I didn't choose the field to get rich; i find it interesting. Besides even if my grand plan falls to total shit and i only get a BA, i know i can get a state job (great benefits) in social service starting at 42K with plenty of upward mobility. Having family very high up in the system ftw.

So now all living things have rights! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
You had better be a Vegan
Nope. I enjoy eating meat but killing animals is wrong //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Well, I hope you know what you are doing to me and the other legitimate members of this forum. We are very upset to to say the least. Last night I screamed at my child's stuffed animals for no reason (they really had done nothing wrong). My wife asked me what was wrong, and all I could do was say, "it's this fvcking Faulkton" over and over. I think she may be planning an intervention.

i think you are underestimating the nefarious intent of those stuffed animals. I probably saved your life; if you hadn't set them straight they might have killed you.

I don't consider hunting a sport. Sports are sports and hunting is hunting.

For those who say there's no skill in hunting, I would suggest trying it. Its harder than you think.

Holding a drawn bow on the vitals of a deer at thirty yards while your arms and legs are shaking cause you have so much adrenaline in you and trying not to move one bit isn't an easy thing to do.

Plus there's the having to find the deer and actually get close enough to it to get a shot off.

LOS ANGELES — Police Chief William J. Bratton said Wednesday that some of the police tactics used to clear immigration protesters from a park were inappropriate, as news videos showed officers striking people with batons and firing rubber bullets into crowds that included children.

Rally organizers denounced Tuesday's police action as brutal and unnecessary, and worried what the incident could mean for an immigration rights movement known for its peaceful rallies.

Images showed police hitting a television cameraman to the ground and shoving people who were walking away from officers at Tuesday's demonstration. Some injured people were seen in the videos, including a Hispanic man with a bleeding welt on his stomach and back.

"Quite frankly, I was disturbed at what I saw," Bratton told KNX-AM. He said the actions of some officers "were inappropriate in terms of use of batons and possible use of nonlethal rounds fired."

The clash at MacArthur Park started after 6 p.m. when police tried to disperse demonstrators who had moved off the sidewalk onto the street. Authorities said several of the few thousand people still at the rally threw rocks and bottles at officers, who fired rubber bullets and used batons to push the crowd back onto the sidewalk.

Bratton and city leaders later held a televised news conference to outline investigations.

With Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa away on a trade mission, City Council President Eric Garcetti spoke to viewers in English and Spanish, stressing the duty to protect the people's right to assemble and for "a free and unencumbered news media."

"This was not a pretty picture," said John Mack, who as president of the five-member Police Commission is one of Bratton's bosses. "This incident raises serious concern regarding the use of force by some individual officers."

The civilian commission, which sets policy for the Police Department, has opened its own investigation.

Bratton said the clash occurred as the rally was winding down. He indicated police were initially trying to deal with 50 to 100 people who were not part of the rally organization.

The department fielded 600 officers, including 100 from its elite Metropolitan Division, considered to be among its most highly trained, who cleared the park, officials said.

Several people, including about a dozen officers, were hurt. About 10 people were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries including cuts, authorities said. None of the injuries was believed to be serious.

"Our national anchor was being pushed by the batons," Marcia Garcia, a reporter for Spanish-language Telemundo 52, told KCAL-TV. "Our TV set was destroyed — monitors, cables, everything on the ground; it was like a surrealistic nightmare."
I know that this will please many of our racist members.
