I hate every candidate every year. The entire political system is a complete farce and full of corruption, bringing the validity of an individuals vote to basically nil.
Indeed.

As a whole though, I don't know if I necessarily consider myself a democrat...

More like, I consider myself a non-republican.

Independent, registered as a republican to have a voice in the primary. That is all
I did the exact same thing, anybody thats independant and wants to vote in the primaries should reg up a party so they can take part.

In this day and age its crazy people will still vote on party lines...we need the old hardcore repubs and dems to die off so we get some more middle ground.

I posit that the republicans and the democrats are basically one in the same at this point except for two issues: gays and abortion.

Neither party is fiscally responsible or an advocate for small government and state's rights, and both are driven by media and polling which requires a dependence on large corporate donations.

I think we might be poised on the edge of a paradigm shift marked by a return to fundamental fiscal conservative values, and the embracing of socially moderate positions, at the federal level, that emphasizes personal freedom and individual choice in regards to issues of morality.

I believe this to be dominate position of most Americans and either party could adopt this position and successfully devastate their political opposition.

We covered this in my pol sci class. The american public opinion is similar to a bell curve with the majority of them falling in the moderate part policy wise. Anytime public opinion shifts the parties shift that way, to fight over as few people as possible. This is known as the economic theory of political parties.

Something neat is how during the primaries, the parties tend to go further to there extreme ( left or right ) to gain as many of there base as possible. Then they have to fight to get back to the middle to win the actual election. This is why most people think candidates flip flop on the issues.

I'm independant. Anyone who votes for someone based on the party that they represent is a fool. I vote for who I think will do the most good for the country. I look at what their stand is on the issues that are current, and what they plan on doing if elected. I also look at what they have accomplished before they started to run for president, or whatever they are running for. I also look into the thinks they said that they would accomplish, but didn't and why.
party trumps person. the second a candidate gets into office, everything they ran on flies out the window and they tend to vote with their party. what you assert is the logical way to vote, but in politics, voting person by person is moot.

Agreed but a paradigm shift can only be given sufficient momentum to actually occur if people get off their ***** and learn to give as much of a **** about their government as they do about American Idol, which I don't see happening any time soon.

that's why i said "we might be poised" loL.

independent. I get to vote this election.

I'm open to voting either way (dem or rep) but if Hillary is the dem then it has to be the rep no matter who it is.

I like Barrack and McCain.

I find it funny how people think Barrack is inexperienced and Hilary is experienced. Hilary got into the senate in 2000, barack has been in some sort of elected office since 1996. So barrack is actually more experienced.

i will not vote for her. No matter what.

for good god. i wish people would think like this.

people base votes on party affiliation because, as ive said a million times, they are sheeple. they want to feel like they are part of the club.

ill give this example for the 1000th time. i knew a guy, who said he votes for the most popular candidate that has the biggest chance of winning. i asked him why. and he told me "so when people ask me who i voted for i can say i voted for the guy that won. you dont want to be the guy that voted for the loser"
