It is not about stopping or controling the flow of information it is a matter of protecting assets. If something happens to our computer systems the military is screwed. It is also to keep "Unprofessional" materials like **** from being viewed at work. Their are other ways of keeping in touch than those things listed.

Its not like keeping in contact with their families is important or anything. Certainly not as important as controlling the flow of media which might make the US look bad.

What the hell do you find wrong with this? All troops are given access to phone lines and email. Is that not enough to keep them in contact with their families? I am fully aware of the restrictions on DSN usage and also web traffic as I am a network administrator for the USAF networks over in SWA and we have been blocking that chit for well over a year now. Bandwidth is there for mission first and with Myspace unblocked we end up dropping a lot of packets do to over subscription of links. You should leave that which you don't understand alone.

eh, I don't see anything wrong with it. Most workplaces have blocked those sites. If you want to stay in touch like that, use netmeeting, the military uses it all the time for teleconferences overseas........

There's many other options besides Youtube, and stuff that takes up that much bandwidth. If you've been in Iraq on the internet, you'd appreciate it, since it can take 5 minutes to load one simple webpage or to log onto your email.

I'd imagine that the owner was forced to stop because these discounts could be seen as playing favorites. If gas station owner X gives discounts to old people and people with cards, gas station owner Y could give discounts to specific races under the same idea. This wouldn't fly very well.

I dont know why the state would get involved in this ordeal. If he buys the gays he can sell it for whatever he wants. Thats like the state making me sell a pack of gum for 5 bucks when i bought it for a dollar. Theres somethin fishy about this gas deal that the people dont know.

It's called price floors. They prevent predatory pricing. They can also be used to stabalize industries such as corn, or promote a social good such as in tobacco.

IMO, the prevention of predatory pricing is the only good reason for price floors.

Ever heard of Standard Oil Co?

I just don't like the "wholesale gas" phrase.

Yep. It makes perfect sense. For the Air Force, We have classified this site as a forum, yet we allow it. These forums are fairly low bandwidth since there aren't a lot of photos and videos on here. Mainly just text. Very low rent, whereas Myspace.com and Youtube and the likes consume an enormous amount of bandwidth. If you are incapable of understanding that simple part of the reasoning, then you shouldn't post here. Even though it is the unclassified network, there are still several mission critical apps that use the transport.

I don't think anyone that can't understand the relationship between bandwidth consumption and airforce internet access policies should even be allowed to use the internet.
