Why in the blue hell are my lights dimming when i have a 250 amp alt?

There are a couple 4cyl FWD cars in the 8's but none are street cars, 10 sec flat is as good as it gets for FWD street 4cyls. with RWD or AWD they would be in the 9's due to traction(even considering less HP to the wheels due to drivetrain losses)

Heck mine is useless on the street with the biggest drag radials I could fit, even with the boost turned down, but I'm traction limited by FWD. I guess not really useless but much slower than with slicks in the 1/4, 1.5sec slower

audioholic, I don't think he meant to call the AMS Evo a street car. If he was, he was farrrr off. Nowhere near street legal. But, it is a beast. Makes over 1000 awhp, ran mid 8s. (I should say RAN mid 8s and MADE over 1000 awhp, if I remember correctly, it burnt up at the Texas Mile a year or two ago)
I guess when he was comparing street cars, and then mentioned it, I assumed he was still talking... street cars. If we want to discuss all out race cars, American made V8's run .... 4's. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I dont mean to turn this into a foreign versus domestic quarter mile race car thread, but I always fail to understand the reasoning behind people not understanding that there truly is no replacement for displacement. All other factors being equal, the car with more displacement will produce more power, and thus run faster. That goes for Japanese cars, Korean cars, American minivans.... anything.

There is no replacement for displacement, but there is efficiency aka HP per liter
And with turbos, superchargers... all you are doing is adding faux displacement. You will not see better efficiency than a topfuel dragster or funny car. Unless you look at my OS18 motor on my tmaxx! LOL

your not adding displacement of any kind, you do however boost the volumetric efficiency of the engine over 100%. Your actually increasing the dynamic compression ratio. For mine at 16psi I'm at ~17:1 compression ratio(which btw for my setup is all I can safely muster from 93 octane gas due to detonation considerations.

BTW top fuel and funny car are supercharged and run on nitromethane(hence why street cars wont get near the power)

The point is, foreign cars are not the only ones who can use power adders like boost or power to weight ratios.
Right, I just prefer to get 30mpg, and then stomp it and get another 300+hp if needed

Oh yeah back to caps, LOL
