Why in the blue hell are my lights dimming when i have a 250 amp alt?

OP, simply you have started a good upgrade to your electrical system, that in fact is required inorder to run the amp you have. Now you have got to finish the upgrade by getting approprate batteries. The stock simply can not supply the power the amp needs fast enough, and it doesn't have the reserve capacity to bridge the gaps when the alt can supply all the power it requires.

Checking your wiring is a great idea, but you are playing with fire by not having the battery power to deal with your requirements.

lets get this fact out in the open, what exactly is the state of the electrical system in you car, whats upgraded and whats factory.
and if you have a dmm check you voltage, if you dont, go buy one.
This. what are you running for wire, what battery are yyou using?

OP, assuming you are giving a steady 13.5 volts when your system is running pretty much all out, the saz 3500 is using 325amps by itself, then you have the load of the mids and high amps, and the car itself, so you actually need to be able to supply about 550-600amps to utilize your equipment. Now with that being said, you have a 220 alt, that can barely keep up with the system turned up 50%, so yea, dimming with your volume up 35% is completely understandable, because you have no reserve

Wrong. You are not going to see anywhere close to a 325 amp draw from that Sundown on daily music.

First, Oh, really?

Secondly, where did I say anything about daily on music?

Thirdly, a SAZ 3500d will absolutely draw 325 amps on music, the difference is that it will not typically be for 30 second runs, rather shorter bursts.

You have a lot to learn. You know that a stock 300hp subaru wrx sti will own a stock 2010 comaro ss with 427 horsepower. the ss has 127 more hp, yet the subie beats it, not by much and it will come down to the driver, but for having 127 less horsepower. Evo X is also a mad car. Make fun of these "4 Bangers" all you want but their just as fast as tuned up American v8's. Have youever seen the AMS tuned Evo 8. It runs mid 8's 1/4 mile, probably even low 8's now and yes its a "4 Banger." Now if your referring to beat up ugly civics than yes, RICE BURNERS. Oh and that escort, even though it may be american, still looks like a mexican ricered out civic.
Where the fuck did that come from?

Id be curious to see a 4-banger street car, any make or model, run 8's in the quarter mile. Let alone low 8's.

I think some people here should go to their local track and see what it takes to make a car run 8's. Hell, run 10's. Double hell, run 12's.

Kids these days.

audioholic, I don't think he meant to call the AMS Evo a street car. If he was, he was farrrr off. Nowhere near street legal. But, it is a beast. Makes over 1000 awhp, ran mid 8s. (I should say RAN mid 8s and MADE over 1000 awhp, if I remember correctly, it burnt up at the Texas Mile a year or two ago)
