Why can a type-R handle so much power?

Yes, ive used type-R's, and i have realized form personal experience that they can indeed take far more power than what they are rated for, especially the 15's.

Im just curious as to what makes the sub handle power so well. Is it cooling or something? What gets me is how small its coil is.....

I've always wondered the same thing too, they are one of the most underrated woofers made... I used to have 2 15s off a VFL400.1 @ .5ohm daily(4kw+) and they took it for like a year with no issues. I even burped a single 15 once @ 1ohm (4kw) and it took it no problem.

what was your final rise at though?

they can take some power if you dont clip it and are easy on the gains.

but so can most subs. i had 2 audiobahn 15s that were rated at 1krms and i could give them 3700 after rise for about 15-20 minutes before they started getting hot.

They should be rated at 1,000 RMS at least. 500 doesn't even get them moving, especially the 15's.
The 15s are rated @ 750w rms btw, 10s and 12s are 500w.

After imp. rise daily was like 3200w or so... The burp was like 2800w if i remember correctly after imp. rise.

They're Hype Args.. what do you expect. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
