Who's running a sub off an Alpine PDX-5??

I'm trying to avoid purchasing a second amp for my front comps so I'm strongly considering the Alpine PDX-5 but am worried that the sub channel (300+watts) won't send enough power to my 12w6v2 or IDQ 12. I know these amps are under rated but would it work pretty good??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need 2 amps Brah if you are concerned about underpowering the sub. get yourself a 1200 watt AQ amp for 250.

Sorry AQ?? Sort of a newb to this stuff. I've also considered downgrading to the 12w3. Not sure how much of a downgrade it would be though.

The PDX will be plenty of power. Neither of those subs want or need much power at all.

What about deciding between the 4.150 or the 5? I only need it to power one set of comps and a sub. Either should work fine right??

Are you absolutely set on the PDX Line?

Either would be fine. The -5 would give you the ability to run the front active with some external processing, if you so chose. The 4.150 would probably run cooler in a passive setup because all channels will be running at 4 ohms.

Thanks, not really looking to run active at the moment so the 4.150 sounds like the ticket. My guess is that the bridged side might produce a little more than the rated 300 since these amps are such high quality. Just a thought though.

get a pdx 4.150 or 4.100 and then a dedicated sub amp

like a 600.1 for a 12w6v2.

it will be teh seckz

Yeah we already heard your spiel about AQ and it's products. Don't need to hear it again. I was suggesting an inexpensive amp that I felt would work for him. Especially since he was considering spending PDX prices.
