Question on a 2007 Tahoe!!

My buddy bought one, and he has the DVD/navigation with backup camera straight from Chevy. Question is he wants to be able to watch movies while not being parked. I know on units like the Pioneer D3, you need to ground the wire to the parking break, will it be the same with his stock DVD/navi?
