Who works at a car audio store?

Selling over priced garbage to people would get old I think. Ohh yes these type rs will blow your windshield out of your not carefull and they are only 300 each on sale now
Don't comment on the price then. Type Rs are solid as well as CVRs and you get good customer service at best buy....that's what matters in that case. Better for less online? Sure.....everyone's not an online shopper and they want to pay for the peace of mind, and that's fine IMO. No need to try and show off your knowledge of underground stuff. I don't even like when ppl do that online.

I've done both for a while (on the side) and the monotony of installing mediocre equipment repeatedly didn't take a toll on how eager I was with my own projects because I was always installing better equipment with better results when it came to my personal vehicles. You'll be selling prefabricated equipment so you just screw everything in, wire it all up, and make sure it works. You might have to do a custom enclosure every so often but not likely for a new guy. With sales, you are motivated to make money but you don't have to be crooked in order to do it. I was making a commission so I wanted to move as much volume as possible but I just stated the specs and which would be the best option out of what I had, not the best option possible for the money. Most of the people will simply ask for the best product you have or the best for their budget. This is where you can use your opinion instead of selling the most expensive thing. You want your customer happy and not broke so they will keep coming back. Of course you don't know the extent of their budget but don't try to sell them subs at 400 bucks each and a 600 dollar amp if they aren't going to perform as well as the less expensive stuff.

Wasn't trying to say I have a mass knowledge of underground stuff but I can see how its piece of mind for some people but sometimes that piece of mind means paying double the price

I don't know how many people have asked me to go into the audio business but I straight out refuse. Not enough money thanks to the depression.
Depressions usually increase sales to things like that, the internet underselling by 50% is the biggest problem.

I literally lol'd.

You know, OP, I've actually been wondering how fun it might be to open up a box-building company..something like DC, JG Construction..you get the clue. I think it'd be interesting because after you get good at it, you could make these really awesome designs and watch them come to life right in front of you. Plus, you're only working with boxes, so I doubt a lot of the electrical stuff would ever get old. I'm thinking of starting to get interested and practicing, and, once I get good enough, start making boxes for people.
