why is there smoke?
Just wondering who on here works at a car audio shop? how is it? Im looking to get another job soon and figured I would look for something I enjoy doing. Im just worried that after installing all day I might start to dislike doing it but who knows. I have applied at best buy, cant imagine how the co-workers would be there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Only thing that would really turn me off is pay, starting out im sure certain places will start low, don't bother with the install bay at bestbuy.
Actually after doing quite a bit of research and talkign to a former best buy employee it seems that starting pay is about 10 dollars an hour. For a high school kid going into college next year thats pretty good. and any other job will pay me just about minimum wage enless I decide to bust my *** at fed ex or ups

To all the people saying I will get tired of it are you guys speaking from experience?

I work at Kwik Trip, a convenience store based out of Wisconsin, im a first year college student making almost 11/hour working there less than a year, best job in town for me at the moment.

**** a convenience store? wtf is it a money laundering front or something

Work the floor position selling the audio equipment to people.
Being that I'm currently in that position primarily, I would advise against. It's hard as hell to meet the requirements of the job (sell product and services while being honest and meeting customer needs).
However, it is nice to get the one OG every once in a while that you can have a legitimate audio conversation with. Also fun to mention an "ohm" and watch the people that "know" everything go cross-eyed lol.

I also work the install bay once in a blue moon as a fill in. I would have to say I enjoy that more because of the lack of customer interaction, although the installs are boring in comparison.

Sales floor also gets paid less.

As for co-workers. The 3 regular installers we have obviously interact with me often. One of them knows his stuff. The other is good at what he does (install low-end or low-power equipment), but would not know what to do after 1kwatts. He likes to learn from me. The last installer is the "know it all" and is constantly trying to debate and loses.

Sales floor co-workers, enjoy learning. Not so much about different brands and such, but best buy does not teach their sales associates anything about installations so they can never answer a technical question a customer has. That technical stuff is what they like to learn.

Thats what I like to hear ^ figure the instal bay would pay more and I dont meat all the requirements but Im guesing a majority of the installers at best buy arent mecp certified
