Who uses dynamat and how much do I need?

You're actually correct. Both products are rubberized asphalt.

"Works good" is completely subjective and shows nothing of logical product selection.

"More for $" is not a good way to weigh the value of deadening products against each other. We need more science and less anecdote. See my sig.

He is only correct in that it is the same as dynamat original, which is asphalt based, and as highly recommended to avoid as is fatmat. The 'good' dynamat (extreme) is butyl, as you know.
