Who uses dynamat and how much do I need?

And it's half the price.

What I need mainly is getting rid of rattles inside of my truck. You can't hear any bass outside of my truck even with the way it is now.
Rattles or vibrations? There are differences. Vibrations are caused from air hitting panels while rattles are when two objects make contact with each other.

For rattled the damplifier and spectrum products will be needed. For rattles, products like Rattle Pad are the solution. For my doors I used a damplifier on the inner portion of the door, followed by overkill. on the outer shell of the door, damplifier followed by rattle pad so that the rattle pad is between the door and door panel to minimize the rattles.

it does its job deadening it just won't hold.. when on the floor all it has to do is hold going back and forth which is much simpler
How does it do it's job if it doesn't hold? Even then it's a worthless product. The purpose of deadener is not just to add weight.

Seriously people. Stop giving advice if you don't know what you're talking about. Refrain from regurgitating what you have HEARD and preaching it like you know what you're actually talkin about

Why do you keep talking? Yeah fatmat is awesome. Forget that its asphalt based, and that you are telling us it doesn't adhere worth a damn... but otherwise its great!

Its amazing, with as frequently as we have these deadener conversations, how many people, even regulars here, seem to churn up the same flawed logic and false facts on the topic.

Rattles

I can hear shit rattling in my truck, for example the sheet metal on the back of my cab rattles and I can hear it inside of my truck.

I wouldn't use it.. I have seen it in action.. chill your roll forum pimp.. acting like the know all.. It adds weight and holds on the floor just fine as it has no where to fall from and it doesn't have to hold its weight up.. and if you can get it for pennies on the dollar to other stuff then do for your floor.. and get the goods when you want it for doors roof etc etc

For the entire truck? Are you kidding me? Geez you need to quiet down and just read in this thread.
10 sq. ft. will be enough to do the hood. Do you really think the 30 sq. ft. is enough for the rest of the vehicle?
I don't think I'm going to do the hood yet. I was thinking roof, floor, doors, and the back of the cab below the window.

No i never said it was awesome.. but if you want something cheap that will do a decent job for floors then do that and get the more expensive stuff for doors etc.. and people have claimed success with it on whole car applications.. only time will tell... but like i said i would not use it.. i have seen it used before and for what it is its not horrid for floors..

i have used plenty of asphalt mat in the past, so I understand where you are coming from. But the simple truth is a butyl mat will simply work alot better. Why spend the money and effort putting in an inferior mat, just to save a few bucks. Rudy, author of the sound deadener showdown, has many times said you are better off buying $100 worth of higher quality butyl mat than you are buying $100 worth of cheaper asphalt mat, even though you get more. And he's right. How many layers of asphalt mat are you willing to put down in order to acheive the same results with one layer of butyl mat?

thats the whole thing though.. it really depends on how many layers of the higher stuff it would take to get the dampening you want then you would have to do like 2 times that with the cheaper.. Like i said.. I wouldn't use it but if you are looking for a cheap flooring go for it.. If you can deal with the curing smell be my guest.. that reason alone is enough for me to say no thank you.. I use dynamat extreme but that can get expensive.. Luckily my new setup will fire forward so all the trunk lid mat is getting moved forward.. ya thats right.. I recycle!! cut my hands up pulling it off it didn't want to come off..
