who makes 8" midbass????

It's funny that you say peerless will do the job as it is considered by many as the best midbase driver available today, it just happens to be inexpensive.

Peerless the best midbass in the market??
No, you didn't define "best."

One of the lowest distortion drivers is the Peerless HDS/XLS 8" woofer that's no longer in production. This is based on the objective results of Klippel testing.

ScanSpeak does make an 8" Revelator (22W) woofer, but it's going to cost you. Keep in mind how much cone area you get with the Rev line. In this respect, the 7" (18W) can out-gun some 8" dedicated midbass IME.

Too many choices out there. You need to get more specific and define your budget.

I have eyeballed all of the scanspeak stuff expensive seen some on sale in some forums haven't seen the 18w. But It caught my eye. I currently have a cdt audio es 07 which is supposed to be a 7" but looks more like a 6.5". How does my cdt fair with the peerless and the scanspeak?

More than likely your CDT mid is just a rebadged Vifa driver...which comes from the same company as Peerless and Scan-Speak.

Peerless in my eyes is one of the best DIY brands on the market. They make excellent products and their quality control is one of the best in the industry.

If you're looking for just a dedicated midbass driver, that you only need to play up to at most 300hz...the SLS would be your best bet. The Scans are excellent drivers, but you'd be wasting money buying a driver that is capable of playing much higher than dedicated midbass frequencies.

I ended up buying the 6.5" SLS drivers (really a 7" driver) because I couldn't fit 8s in my doors, you might want to take a look at them as well, since the 8" SLS is out of stock at madisound.

Either way, you can't go wrong //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Why not? based on quality, reliability, and all their R&D hell the W7 hasn't changed in 6 years...tells me one thing....they know their shit.... I would say that the JL is the best on the market
They should be (I know most don't) a very well respected company, but to flat out say something is the best is just ignorant. Best to you? That may be true. Best to me? Not a chance in hell, they don't fit my application. That's not to say they are bad because IMO they aren't, but they don't work for me so it wouldn't be my best choice.

Oh and my guess is that Scan-Speak has been in the speaker manufacturing market MUCH longer than JL has...The Tymphany group is nothing to scoff at. Chances are you've probably heard some of their products before, but you didn't know it. They OEM for lots of companies.

Those scanspeak look hot though lol

but if the peerless are what everyone else is saying where can i get them i can custom install them to make them fit on my doors 8"
