Who has Iraggi Alts?

The reason i ask is i just got a 220A alt however the person putting it in used the factory pulley instead of the one on the alt because he did not see to use a smaller belt. But i get less voltage now at idle than i did with my stock alt. When i get it up to 2-3 rpms the voltage kicks in but just cruising it does not do much better than my stock, around 1500 rpms. Will the pulley make that much of a difference or did i get a bad alt?

The smaller pulley will make the alternator spin faster at lower RPM's. This will in turn make it put out more power at idle or cruising speeds. It really shouldn't be done that way but it works and most HO alternators use that method to get more power at idle or low RPM's. Do you mean that you get less voltage or amps at idle now?

Wow, tell the jackass to put the pulley on that CAME WITH THE ALTERNATOR... it's there for a reason.

Does your car have an auto-tensioner? I want from stock to the smallest pulley, and didn't have to change belts...

Nah i am going to bring it back up there and get him to put the smaller pulley on and a smaller belt. Yes i get less voltage at idle now with the 220 and the factory pulley than i did with the stock alt and factory pulley. But i get more around 2-3000 rpms.

lol didnt they read the **** box the alternator came in?? it says DO NOT REPLACE THE PULLEY. leave it on, it allows it to spin faster and get more amperage out of it @ idle.

i also went from my stock pulley to the pulley on my iraggi, and didnt have to change belts either.

So when i get the pulley put back on tomorrow and get the right size belt the alt will charge a lot better? Because at idle now with the Iraggi alt and the factory pulley i get 11.87v and with the stock alt i got 13.87v but when i am going down the road bumping it at full volume it stays at around 12-13 when my stock drop to 10.4v. Can i expect to have that much more power at idle due to the pulley?

How long did it take for you to recieve ur alt after u bout it?

Are you installing it personally? Midas said they'd install mine for 75.00 if no parts are added...

Yea imma install it myself i cant afford to pay anyone to work on my car right now, when i can do the job myself, well mines is kinda easy itself plus i need to replace my belts.

Well i've done every electrical aspect of my car so far, how hard 1-10 is installing a new alternator. my mom knows a car mechanic that could probably help me out.

What kind of car do you have and a picture of the engine bay would help? My alternator sits right on top;remove all grounds from the battery/ batteries, loosen the belt, remove the charge cable, remove the wire harness and remove the 3 bolts that hold it on and then reverse the process.

I used my stock pulley on my 200amp alternator and I get around 14.5V at idle. My alternator was made by a local alternator shop. I personally don't like the idea of over reving the alternator. You shorten the life by doing that but if it's a well built unit, you may not have a problem.
