It’s the 8.4 uconnect, alpine package. 4 door speakers, 2 corner dash, 1 center dash, and 2 tweeters in the rear headliner. And of course the subwoofer, but that’s completed. Doors stock are 6x9, might be looking to go 6.5”. Dash across are all 3.5”, and a lot of guys I’ve read do the corners and either disconnect the center or upgrade it as well, but ***** buying 4 to only install 3. So who’s done it? Factory speakers are 2 ohm, so idk if I’m ready for another amp and all that wiring, (or if I should just stfu and stop acting like it’d be that hard and just install one..... but then already having factory amplified might be a struggle). So I think as of now, I’m just looking to slap in new speakers.

I recently did a 5th gen ram, sounds similar to yours except I did not have the amplified system (I chose this truck knowing I was going to upgrade so got one without the factory amp). The center speaker grill on the dash, does the speaker grill say harmon kardon on it? Mine did not. I was pleasantly surprised when I peeled the grill off and found no speaker there. But if it say Harmon Kardon then you do have the speaker. Im my opinion, it is not needed. I'd just disconnect it and work with the corner speakers. I put mid range 3 inch speakers in the corners. I also did 6.5 inch in the doors and wish I had done 6x9 and currently considering replacing them.

Not sure if the 4th gen and 5th gen are same but with 5 th gen there's an active noise cancelling feature that needs to be disabled if you're going to by-pass the factory amp. There's a module you can purchase for like 30 bucks to by-pass it. Theres also some instructions somewhere to make your own by-pass. I'd look into that too.

The 8.4 u-connect puts out some decent sound. But mine puts out distortion at volume setting 33 (of 40). With my amps and setup I really don't need to set the volume above 30 so it works for me. My last truck I upgraded the factory head unit to a Pioneer and was able to use the entire volume spectrum. Its a little annoying now since I have to tell my son to quit turning it all the way up. LOL

Hope some of this helps. I saw you post earlier and resisted the urge to reply because of the 4th gen vs 5th gen. But the crickets were driving me nuts. Good luck with your decision.

Appreciate it! Ordered these 3.5 for the corners, I have read the center speaker can be dis connected, my center is alpine. Why arent the 6.5 performing?
