Which type of enclosure should i go with?

Recently bought two new kicker CVX 12's and a Rockville md3 amp. Going to build a center console sub box but not sure if I should go sealed or ported. To make the center console the size I want, according to recommended enclosure size I will have to go sealed as the box will be 2.5 cu ft. I can also make the box a little bigger and bump that up to 3.5 cu ft. which would allow me to go with the vented compact recommendation. I've always had ported enclosures as I prefer real deep booming bass. My issue comes in with the amount of recommended wattage I can put to the subs in each enclosure according to the manual. If I go the sealed route I can apply 750 watts to each sub. But if I go the ported route I will only be able to push 300 watts per sub. Will more wattage in a sealed box be better for what I want out of my system or would the ported enclosure be better even though it is less wattage. I've included pics of the info on subs and amp. Thanks in advance.

Well if you use just one of the 12's and port it, it will practically be just as loud as the 2 12's sealed with the same power. I don't think you'll be able to fit 2 12's ported properly. the 2 12's sealed will be louder uptop while the ported will be louder and deeper down low. Just depends on what you want. It's always better to have headroom for power so you don't end up maxing out and clip the subs to death. Are you able to return the kicker subs? I feel there are better options for the money.

This Is horrible information. "The 2 12 box will be louder up top and the ported will be louder deeper"...

hahaha WTf is that shlt. Ported will be louder all around if its built right. Sealed is really for prefab noobs and losistool because he's a noob:emb: gonported forsure. A 2 12" center consol will work

Is the 3.5 measurement including the port area

You must add the port volume to the recommended volume

I don't think you have enough room for those 12's ported

There are better subs that would do well in 3-3.5cf ported

Lol this sealed 12 beats the ported 8 from bottom to top. But it is bigger then most ported 12s

Yes we all know ported will be louder overall. I'm just talking about the kickers that he has. I think OP should just return them/ sell them and just go with a beefier 12" ported or heck even multiple 8's ported. I personally wouldn't put those 2 12's in that compact ported recommendation.

That does not include the port area but I have been doing some reading on external ports and the general consensus seems to be that it doesn't really matter if the port is on the inside or the outside of the box just as long as the port is the proper dimensions to achieve the desired tune of the box. Does this sound right to you? Or have I been reading bad information?

Not really an option to return them without paying for return shipping and a restocking fee. I may just build 3 boxes and seeing which I like the most. I'll build one sealed for both subs, one vented sq box and just use one sub and then one vented compact box with an external port. May be a lot of work but it'll be a learning experience none the less.

It don't matter as long as you keep the airspace the same.
