Which sub would you choose?

Personally I don’t find ebp numbers all that useful. Just because a drivers ebp #s favors say a sealed enclosure doesn’t mean it won’t work well in a ported enclosure. A low ebp might require a larger ported box than normal but maybe not when you take cabin gain and goals into consideration.
A good modeling software program is way more useful in determining what driver will work or not for your application available air space and goals than ebp rules of thumb imo.

We just put a single Hippo 15 in an Elantra sedan on a prototype fullbridge 3K, that trunk opening will limit what U can get in there so be careful unless it's to be built inside the trunk.
21650

Granted... we COULD have gone slightly bigger but not much... it barely dropped in as it was.

If only I was smart enough to figure out how to use modeling software 😬😔

That would be the gold standard, but it's going to be for pointing out exceptions to those outside the bounds more so than excluding drivers within the bounds of acceptable ranges at least within your space constrictions. So the woofer he mentioned may take well to a ported box of that size even if it's low EBD if it's a somewhat rare exception, but the others which have much higher EDB will also be perfectly content in one if that's the case.

Rules of thumbs like EBD have exceptions, but they're there to avoid potential, more obvious, mistakes that the pros can sometimes avoid with the right tools or techniques.

I’m sure you’re smart enough. it takes an investment of time and effort but once you start picking up on it it’ll give you a better understanding of how different types of enclosures work with different types of drivers amongst other things.
ebp is a pretty old school way of determining what type of enclosure you should go with when we have modeling software available. It’s kinda like using a loc in a late model car to send a signal from a factory hu to an amplifier when these days we have digital sound processors with de-equalization that send a full range signal to an amplifier instead of whatever crap factory signal an loc will pass through to your amplifier.

Guilty as charged! I know my next spare $150 should be a DSP.

That would be a function of the harness, not the HU, I think. Have you looked into a Maestro or iData interface? i would check with crutchfield...

thanks DB, that definitely helps swallowing a $300 price tag 😂 these would essentially be running midbass for me too

What is your budget? With being exposed to Rain.. I would recommend looking at a marine grade SAS Bazooka for the sub stage

Don't forget Hoffman's Iron Law. You can have 2 of the 3: low end, efficiency/sensitivity or small enclosure size...
