right now i have all alpine speakers and comps on my truck but they lack on high range freqs. so i'm looking for same 6x9 speakers with super clear and loud highs.

which ones do you guys think will give me the highs i need?

- Infinity Reference 9612i

- Infinity Reference 9613i

- Kicker 05KS69

- Pioneer TS-A6981R

- Pioneer TS-A6991R

- Polk Audio db 690

- Polk Momo MMC 690

- Sony XS-S690CX

I don't care about how the mids and lows sound, my alpines have them covered.

Going to power them with PG octane-r 4.0.2 75RMS x 2 @4ohms

Alpine SPS-170A Type-S 6 1/2" speakers

Alpine SPS-171A Type-S 6 1/2" Comp's

4 Alpine SPS-690A Type-S 6x9' speakers

and no the equalizers don't really help if i turn up my high freq equalizer bands the tweeters on the speakers and comp start harshing.

you want exaggerated highs? or accurate highs? -- infinity will be over the top and harsh... if thats what you are looking for... if you want loud + accuracy... heh... not in this price class //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

I want accurate highs.

i use to have the Pioneer TS-A6981R speakers but sold them to a friend.

Before i sold them i tryed one out. took out one of my Alpine SPS-690A Type-S 6x9' speakers and installed one of the pioneers. used the balance to hear the difference.

The pioneer had louder accurate highs but lacked on mids and lows. The alpine had a bit louder and very accurate mids and lows but lacked on highs.

You can really hear the difference with the song #1 by Nelly cuz it has loud highs

Both those Infinity's and Pioneer's are too harsh for me. The Pioneer's produce very clear highs, maybe just what you're looking for. I've had a bunch of sets of Pioneers...

I think my SPS-170's are great! Much better than the Inifity's and the Pioneers... Is it possible to get highs without them being harsh? What about tweeters? What am I mssing?

Out of the ones you just listed I would go with the polk momos. They are good speakers. But since your already pushing a pg amp, why dont you try the xenons. They are excellent comps

Truck system:pioneer P860mp HU

Alpine SPS-170A Type-S 6 1/2" speakers

4 Alpine SPS-690A Type-S 6x9' speakers

2 Kenwood amps

5 PG Octane-R amps

Wow, what a clusterf*uck! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/omg.gif.05aa02c3095d6ce9338996654eca0863.gif

I can't think of anything that will help that system. Honestly, I'd pull all the 6 x 9's, pull all the subs, make a nice ported box for TWO of your sws-1242d. Then I'd pull the sps-170a coaxes (or just disconnect them) Take your finest SQ amp, and run it to the Alpine comps in front, then take another amp that puts out 600-1000 watts @ 1 or 4 ohms, and run that to the subs. Done deal, balanced system.

There is probably plenty of high end coming from your front comps, they're just getting drowned out by all the other 'stuff' you have in there.

For SQ scrap everything and start over....

For SPL keep doing what you are doing -- just live with a striking lack of sq... Not much you can do about it... the higher in frequency things get the worse the effects of having lots of speakers gets...

This is definatly a better way to go than what you currently are using if you are after quality...
