I have always been told to buy a 4 ohm sub, but i have found one cheap that is a 2 ohm. Should i buy it or not?
Efficiency isn't everything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifget a class T amp....wayy more efficient
The output impedance of most SS amps is so high that DF doesn't play as much of a part as it could with amps that have a pretty low output impedance. With lower impedence, higher distortion (THD) happens at times... depending on the amp.
So the saying that ohm loads do not effect SQ is in some cases bull.
If the amplifier is producing enough distortion that it is audible at any of it's stable impedances then you either need to 1) buy a non-broken amplifier 2) not push the amplifier so hard into clipping, or 3) the amplifier glows and you are a tube fairy. With lower impedence, higher distortion (THD) happens at times... depending on the amp.
