I used 8 gage for speaker wire before... It worked very well! I noticeably gained output. Expensive as hell tho.

That guy above got it right that you will increase BL by wiring the coils in series. Another thing to think about when wiring subs with certain gauge wire is the connection itself. The coil wire itself is tiny and many many yards long; by going from 14ga to 10ga on a 5ft long run it won't make much of a difference.

if it doesnt cause enough voltage drop to cause a 1dB loss then using bigger guage wire doesnt do anything unless you are chasing 10th's on the mic in which case use the biggest you can get yor grubby hands on with the shortest runs possible.
