Ok guys I have a set of Rainbow SLC 265s and I need an amp for them and I am down to 2 amps either a Kenwood Excelon KAC-X521, or a kenwood kac-7202. which amp would provide better sq as both produce around the same amount of power. Thanks guys any help would be great.

Ditching the passive crossovers will make more of an SQ difference than swapping out comparable amplifier topologies any day...

JL's slash amps are probably the best "mainstream" amps out there. They're pricey, but if SQ's your thing it's hard to argue anything is clearly better.

I am not a huge JL guy, but the slash series amps work awesome on components. I have a 450/4 and there are not many to equal it. They are worth the money.

If you use he 300/2, then you will need to use the passive crossovers on the comps. The 300/4 will allow active control.

Both are good amps IMO.

I have never used active amplifying. I would not know what I am doing with it. Is it hard to learn how to set it up properly?

You can learn fairly easy. The 4 channel route makes the most sense as you can bridge for passive or you have the extra 2 channels to go active.

It's very simple to set up/adjust. I had no issues my first time...
