I was browsing Ipads for sometime today and decided i'd be better off with a simple android tablet pc for my uses around the house. Wanted to see if anyone out there has had experience with some tablets and how they like them and what they can recommend for someone on a budget. Less than 400 preferred spendable.

Also, anyone know if tablets can be hooked to headunits like ipods etc for music purposes? i'll always have mine with me so it'd save some time there too as I never remember to bring my zune and my iphone rarely has music on it.

nice sig hahaha

and the nook color is pretty good for running custom roms but the best of the best right now is the galazy tab 10.1
lol thankies and yea I see a nook color for sale pretty cheap. I may try and pick it up, dunno much about running custom roms though, i'll look into it.

staples was running a coupon a couple days ago, for 100 dollars off any of its tablet.... so you could get a toshiba thrive 8 gb for 330... and then throw a 16 gb sd card in it for like another 30 bucks... i have a 16gb one now, and love it

all the new tabs coming out, as far as the high end ones (galaxy 10.1, toshiba thrive, asus transformer, acer iconia) all have pretty much the same internals... their all tegra 2, running around 1.2 ghz, and running honeycomb. after that it just comes down to personal preference. i chose the thrive for 2 main reasons...

1. price... 8gb starts at 439, (with the coupon i listed above, you can get it for 330)

2. its the only tablet so far, that has full size sd, hdmi, and usb ports... what this means, most importantly, is that you can pick up a regular sd card (8 or 16gb) for cheap, and have the same or more memory as other tabs (the galaxy 10.1 doesnt even have a microsd slot, so your stuck with either 16 or 32 gb)... also the thrive is the only tabelt with a removable battery, so after a while, once the battery starts to loose charge (and it will) you can just buy another one, instead of having to replace the whole tablet

i really like the removeable battery and full SD

yea... me too... here's the one i got...

if i were you, i would def look at the coupon i put on here... even if you dont go with the thrive, i would def go with one of the higher end ones with that coupon (and still be able to stay around 400)... honeycomb, and tegra 2 chips are DEFINATELY worth the lil extra in cash... especially for using it around the house... i've used 2.2 tablets, and froyo really isnt made to be used on a tablet, and it really does feel like you just have a big phone, and nothing else

no... the majority of new ones that are coming out are wifi only... there are 4g models out there, but honestly, if you have an android phone with 4g, you can just root it, and tether off of it

Nook Color + CM7 rom.

For only $250 or less, it is a great solution.
