Which amp for my Atlas 12?

I picked the Atlas 12 for my sub and have spoken with Moe Lester about making me a box although he's swamped right now! So anyway- now on to my amp! I'd like to keep the budget around $200 for the sub amp. I will still need one for the front JL's too and I'd like to keep it around the same or less.

I decided to break this off from the other thread to get right to the point.

For the less informed (like I was yesterday), that's 300 watts at 4 ohms. She said she wanted something with good build quality.

Is Ascendant out of the current Atlas right now? I thought I saw a post where someone bought the last one.....might want to call them (if you havent already) to see if the new version is going to require the same power. I would think it would, but just to be safe......

That stems from some customer service issues that they had in the past, with preorders and stuff like that, based on my understanding. I once started a thread trying to find out the specifics of it, everyone acted like it was a secret, so I dont know. Some people choose to hate them for it. Personally, Ive never had a single problem with them- they have always been accessible and helpful. I havent seen any negative comments on their amps- underrated, nice warranty, good price, solid performers.

Ask around about their amps.......

if you are dependant on a stereo shop id still look into getting the amp/amps there. that amp is a little underrated and will be just fine all the way around. its just better to know your arse is covered if issues arise

I will get with the audio shop in town once the Atlas arrives and see what they suggest. I was just thinking I could get a much better deal online. I also know they only offer Memphis, JL and Kicker and the guy suggested the Memphis above the other brands.

id give kicker in reality a slight nod over the memphis. both are pretty solid however. that deal in the link is pretty good for 1 amp that would take care of your whole system. thing you have to watch out for islack of warranty with online amps and the price/job the shop will do for you if the amp wasnt purchased there

Depends on the dealer, too. In my area, one dealer won't even acknowledge selling you the amp if it's damaged (but offer to fix it for a price, naturally) and the other will replace it no-questions-asked as long as you have the reciept. Make sure you know your dealers return policy on damaged equipment.

that sub has a single vc at 4ohms the other leads are not powered they are for the qts setting and I would recommend as they do at low qts for a small sealed box and higher qts setting for larger enclosures. I am putting 220wrms to each atlas12 I have 2 and they pound away quite happily(although they keep asking for more). I am ported at 32hz and I get plenty loud from the trunk of a 94 corsica. with the rear deck speaks removed.

my sub amp is a pa lt980.2(not the greatest i'm sure )but does quite well.

also a friend had his pa lt980.2 benched at 4ohms bridged and hit 512wrms. (what he said I wasnt there). that would be a good match especially for the price. here are some links to get an idea of what you might like and dont like.
