Which amp for Elemental Designs OV. 16?

I've got to rebuild my box, and I HAVE TO UPGRADE THE AMP! I got a legacy 1200 watt as a freebie, and I need something with better quality. Any suggestions? I'll probably upgrade to 2 15's this summer and I'd run either 1 powerful amp or 2 midrange ones?

Anything that will do around 700-1200 watts rms, depending on whether it's a sealed or ported box. If it's a ported box, the most important factor is knowing the tuned frequency, and setting the ssf (subsonic filter) correctly.

In a 1.6 cu ft sealed box, the 16Ov2 will handle 1200 rms all day, as long as the gains are set for no clipping. In a typical ported box, with ssf correcly set, I would be careful with anything over 900 rms.

So you want to look for an amp that will put out the above numbers into a 2 ohm load.

Ok thanks for the info. How much will my sound quality improve from a cheap-*** legacy amp to a more serious one? I've NEVER OWNED A QUALITY AMP!
