thinking of purchasing a pair of sdx10's, Creative Sounds has a new Canadian reseller that sells em pretty cheap

will probably run them off Sundown Audio SAX-100.4 rear channels bridged, rated around 300watts rms @4 ohm

1. Will the amp suffice?

2. What's the best type/size of enclosure for these?

3. Is there a better subwoofer option out there at the $250 mark that would best the overall sql of dual csx 10's using my amp?

Vented: 43 liters net volume. Stuff with 16 ounces of polyfill. Then

use a 3” flared port, 17” long for 24.5 Hz tuning. Will handle 300W

continuous above 20 Hz, and in-room have extension to the 22-23 Hz

range. More than 108 dB SPL from 20 Hz and up, in room!

Sealed: 24 liters net stuffed with 16 ounces of polyfill. Qtc of 0.7, F3 of

44 Hz, in-room extension to 30 Hz. Will handle 250W+ above 20 Hz,

and provide more than 103 dB SPL from 20 Hz and up, in room.

Those are their recommended boxes. I prefer vented over sealed.

1)a pair would not work well with that amp. an amp with 500 to 900 watts mono at 2 ohms would be ideal

a pair of woofers with S4 would give you 2 ohms or 8 ohms..

the sax100.4 is 100@4 ohms stereo and 320@4ohms, ~180@8ohms bridged

so with that amp it would be better to run them in stereo at 100@4 wpc.

2)running a single sdx10(S4) with 320@4ohms using the recommended vented would be ideal

i have used this woofer and sounds amazing. i ran it in the vented spec box with 70w and 500w... with 70watts i ran the amp at 130% it did the job but not good and with the 500 watts i run it at 50-60% and it sounds amazing my only upgrade would be a 15" with xbl2 or lms tech with lotsa power

so to answer your question #3 for 250$ a pair will work. i would save my money & just buy one with your power; cos find a better sql woofer with your power

thanks so much, that is exactly the kind of info I was looking for

two questions if u don't mind

can you recommed another 4 channel amp in the $200-300 price range that would work with 2 subs(I can buy used too). otherwise, would I just be better off running a single with the amp I have despite the loss of spl from a second sub?

thanks

1) if you want another amp find one that will run with the rear channels bridged down to 2 ohms

why not use two amps? find a mono and 2 channel

2) yes you will loose output with only 1 sub. but it is better to use one driver to the fullest(more headroom) rather than 2 being choked w/ an overdriven amp. for sq reasons(in a vented box) just my $.02

if you have 600+ watts yes it would be better with two with 300+ than one on 600+; once theres so much power, other factors come into play
