which 2k amp is better?

i have talked to several ppl that have had the old 20.1 & the new 20.1. everybody that i have talked to about it says that the new 20.1 is stronger & more bullet proof than the old one(if that is possible)

Also, let me add, the AQ2200D is the same as the SAZ-3000D with less mosfets. About 50-65% of the power output of the SAZ-3000D, which we all know is slightly underrated.
So they are the same exact boards with just fewer mosfets, wow then what would stop you from getting the AQ 2200D, its cheaper and is pretty much the same as the others

also DB-R is the AQ 3500D the EXACT SAME amp as the Sundown SAZ-3500D?

Not that I remember. I think more along the lines of the SAZ-3000D. I could be wrong, been a while since I looked at the inside of the AQ.

The new IA 20.1 may well be as strong as the old one. The amp has changed ALOT inside, I have 1 of the newer IA 20.1's here, but it's a parts amp, it got damaged really bad, so it's non-working, just for parts, but I did work on 1 other new IA 20.1 and they did squeeze alot of guts in a small case. I think the new one has a few less outputs (same parts BTW) than the old one, but the new one may have a little more power supply fets so it may be about the same power at lower impedance, but may be less than the old IA 20.1 at 2 ohms and up. Really hard to say without clamping BOTH of them in the same setup, but judging just by the parts inside I would say the old one would be stronger, but it was MUCH larger and heavier. It's amazing how they fit all that stuff into the new 20.1, it's tiny. Next time I get one in here I will clamp it. If that ever happens, been waiting months since the last ones came in here, none others have given out or had problems, so yeah, it may be pretty bulletproof, but need more time really to tell that, it's only been a little while since they started shipping if I remember right.

Ahh, okay so I went and looked at my pics I had saved.

AQ3500D = real similar to SAZ-3000D. 4 small power supplies in AQ compared to 2 big ones in the SAZ-3000D. SAZ-3500D has 4 more output mosfets than the AQ.

RD Audio D5 is real similar to the AQ3500D, but with more caps, probably a little more power. SAZ-3500D has same design in it, but different caps and 4 more output mosfets.

Really? 50-65%? SO if the 3000 puts out like say 3500, the AQ is only putting out half or less than half of that? But people say that their underrated too. I won't say that it's impossible, but I want to believe that my 2200D actually puts out 2200 watts and not 1700 or less.

And my bad, the Audioque 2200D is essentially the same design and parts as the SAZ-2000D. I suspect similar output. Not made in the same factory, so guess on quality, only time will tell, but probably the same parts to a tee. Also remember though on this kind of stuff, warranty, resell value, cosmetic's and customer service play a big role in when most people go to buy an amp. So doesn't mean just cuz the Audioque is cheaper but the same thing essentially everyone should be like, "oh well that's what I want to get then cuz it's less money". It don't work that way. Just like the IA 20.1 (older model) being that same as the HiFonics XX-Herc. Who would have guessed given the power ratings each company gave the amp board, and who would pay the same for an XX-Herc as they did for an older model IA 20.1... Just didn't pan out like that. I can say the boards in the XX-Herc were from a different factory, or at least appeared to be and the copper wasn't as thick, and the hardware wasn't as nice etc etc... so there are differences, in quality. And of course differences in Customer Service and warranty, though the amps were similar.

Guess I was thinking of the AQ3500D, which while I am sure is a good amp, it's not the same as the SAZ-3500D like everyone thinks, it's similar to the SAZ-3000D.

Just to be clear here I am not saying you should or shouldn't buy any of this stuff nor have I had the chance to put a clamp on these amps to see their power output, just looking at the inside and giving a visual difference in parts and design, and stating whether or not those differences really "make a difference" or not. In some cases they would other they would not. I am also not an expert, just another one of you guys I just happen to put my fingers in these things and test them everyday.

See my correction. I was thinking the AQ2200D was the same design as the SAZ-3000D with only 8 outputs. It's not. My bad I must have seen a prototype board somewhere and got it confused. Yes the 2200D should do rated power at 13.8VDC I would say yes.
