Where to run 1/0 wire...

Hey guys,

I've done several installs, so I'm not a total newb to running power wire to the trunk, but my question may seem stupid.

In the past, I've only dealt with wire up to 4 AWG. Since the wire wasn't extremely large, I could run it undereneath the doorsill molding. But now I'm upgrading to 1/0 in my car, and I think it's going to be too tight to run it in the same location.

From seeing others' installs, I think I'm supposed to pull back the edge of the carpet along the doors and slide the wire down under the carpet. Is this correct? And if so, I don't have to remove the front seat bolts to do so, do I? Just for reference, I have an '02 Maxima.

Yes, pull up the carpet (may require you temporarily remove the doorsill molding) and run the wire under the carpet. No, you won't have to remove the front seats.

You MIGHT not have to remove the front seats, but then again it might be easier if you do. I pulled the driver's seat out of my car when I ran the 1/0 (2 runs down the driver's side). It made it much easier to deal with.

YUou're lucky. Even with 4awg, I have to remove the seats and all plastic moldings to run it under the carpet because the doorsils are full of crapola. I got pissed the other night and now the Tahoe is carpetless :O

i just did my 2000 impala with 0 gauge and i took off all of the plastic panels along one side then that whole edge of carpet basically moved freely, i movedthe carpet away from the floor where it was molded and slid the cable down as everyone said. the plastics went back on as easy as they came off. i would give this method a try and you should be fine

just be glad you dont have an vw/audi. they are the **** at running any guage wire.
