WHich way do I put the terminals on the basket? Like if I was gunna hook the positives together it'd be on the same side and wouldn't have to cross over the magnet? Is this correct?

U can cross the magnet it makes no difference.

Positive is usually on the left side and negative is on the right, that goes for both set of terminals

Ok so if I'm looking straight at each side of them the positive is on the left and neg on the right?

Yep. If you wire it in series the wire should have to cross somewhere
