where to get alternator for an s600?

alright.. wife got a new car, (01 mb s600) and i am wanting to do a small sq system, but i do want to upgrade the alternator.. problem is, its water cooled.. any idea where to get one for this car?

how many amps does the stock one put out? Some stockers are more than powerful enough for what it sounds like you want to do.

150 amps... but there is ALOT of electronics in it..

The alternator in my 99' BMW 540i6 is also water cooled and the car is also packed with electronics from the factory as well. Mine is rated at 160a IIRC and I've added about 2000wrms worth of amplifers to it not including the the extra electronic gear and I don't have any charging issues. I did change out the factory battery with a Deka Intimadator though......

The factory battery cables both power and ground are 1/0 from the factory....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

P.S. check out H.O. Alternators, when I thought about buying an high output alt, they sent me a quote for one but I don't know if they knew it was water cooled though....

150 amps... but there is ALOT of electronics in it..

There is but most of them dont draw that much, you could probably be fine depending on your amps. I reccomend seeing if any other models or years share the same mounting, you might be able to find one that puts out a bit more on a newer model.

hmm.. really? odd that your 5 series has a 160, and the 600 only has 150.. good on beemer!
