but he knows that he ****ed up, and he knows that his parents are going to know EXACTLY what he blew (literally) all of his money on, so he wont

so one way or another, he's gonna have to face up to his business, and this'll all be over

You did he best thing you could do by changing the lock. I ws in a similar situation a few years back with my cousin. He'd blow his whole paycheck on payday getting drunk and popping pills. Never had any money to give me, and even worse than that, when we would be at the bar, he'd always try to to pull the "dude I'm your cousin, you can't buy me a beer? "shit. Ya like I'm going to buy you shit because you blew your check on friday and now your broke. Finally I got fed up and got rid of him. He moved back home with his mom, who used to give me the money when he was broke,(at 25yrs. old) and wound up stealing off her to get drunk/high. She kicked him out. Then, he moved in with a friend of his and did the same thing, didn't pay his part of the rent and wound up stealing off him to. It's a real bad situation when your dealing with people like that.

The thing you need to do is think what's best for you. And do you need that sort of shit in your life?

It's sad, man.

I used to live with him with 3 other guys a while back, and he was nothing like this. He drank quite a bit, but he was atleast functional. He could drink at night, but he always made sure he got up and went to work, got his school work taken care of, and stayed on top of his business.

At some point he's just lost any and all self control, or he just feels like he could take me for a ride. Either way, it's not good. If he's just trying to take advantage of me, IM not helping him by covering for him. And if it's an actual problem with addiction, then he can go deal with that living with his parents, because A) me covering for all of his bills is the exact same thing as GIVING him drinking money, and B) i quite frankly don't want to be the one who has to call his mom and tell her that he never woke up, after he chokes back a few addies, a case of beer, some meth/coke if he can afford it, and all of this on top of his anti-depressants he's on (that he most likely takes because he's depressed about not being able to stop drinking/taking drugs).

Cause there's definitely a very real chance of him not living much longer, and as long as i'm carrying his weight, i can't help but feel more than a little responsible for his behavior.

I thought it sounded a bit harsh at first, but now I totally agree with you. He's being a little *****, and he knows it.
