Where do you put your USB connector?

One nice thing about my JVC HU is the front panel USB connector. I can plug in different flash drives easily. Most HU's have the connector in the rear, which means you have to run a cable somewhere. Just wondering where you guys put the connector.. In the glove box? Ashtray?

I have a usb and a sd card slot in the fron't of mine. I use the sd cause I don't want a 3" drive sticking out of my dash. If I did use the usb i'd prefer one on a cord.

Depends on use. Rear USB is a must for me as I use an old 2nd gen. ipod nano and leave it in the glovebox out of sight. For someone who's constantly switching USB sources, or someone using their phone for music, running maybe to a cubby beneath the radio or something like that may be more practical as no one wants to be reaching over to the glovebox that often.

i was wanting to find a adaptor for my alpine cda9883, would like to get an adaptor (female ipod to female usb) since the alpine doesnt charge the ipod, i would rather do a flash drive in the glove compartment and ditch the ipod.

Mine has the usb port in the back, which is exactly what I wanted. Ran an extension cable to my glove box this way everything is out of sight and super clean. It's not like it's difficult to open the glove box and grab my flash drive if I want to take it inside and load some new music on it. Although lately I've been using my droid since it has 24gb of memory and I have the car dock wired to the aux port making it super simple to plug in and go...

Mine is tucked away in the glovebox. Has a 4 gb usb drive with all my bass music. I also have a 16gb SD card behind the double DIN screen that has all my normal music. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Mine has a port in the back, which is exactly what I wanted, cus I didn't want stuff running out in front. And I have it running into my glovebox, works perfect. Unfortunately I've heard most HU's **** when you get like 20gb or more of music on there.... So I dunno what I'll do, as I have 44gb.

scosche makes an adapter so the alpine charges the ipod, I had to get one with my cda 9887.

We use something similar where I work, but they're stainless bulkhead connectors by Amphenol. Industrial duty and way too fugly for a dash. Thanks for the link.
haha, I know exactly what you're talking about, we used those at my last job. They're bulky but I think they could survive a nuclear blast...

Dont have USB, but my iPod cord comes out under the dash board. There is a small pocket at the front of my cup holders that is just there. Not sure what its for, but my iPod sits there.

Would like to know this as well....Also, is there a certain type flash drive that works best for this application? I was thinking about getting a 1T drive and uploading my entire collection to it...
