You talk to dave or ronnie? Their alts do what they claim, 140 at idle is more than most of the other guys 300amp alts do at idle.

300 amps alt or larger dont normally do very well at idle:fyi:

I guess i should have said it like this "Their street alternators put out more than most of the competetitors competition alternators." FYI Ive ran the brand you mentioned and now run a DCPowerinc, so until you try both brands, i dont see how you can rank yours as being better.

You're not really running enough power for an HO alt to be necessary. I would just replace your current one with a rebuilt stocker. After 24 years, it probably is just getting ready to peter out. 120 amp alty, a good battery, and big 3 should be plenty. A second battery wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Id try a small second battery first, but if you do go with a HO alt, definitely use a DCPower.

13 volts isnt bad even high 12's isnt bad if it hits the high 12's for a split second and goes right back to 13 like mine does lowest it will do at idle with lights on is 12.5 with lights off lowest i seen it go is 12.8 but most of the time it hangs around 13-13.4 volts so your voltage isnt bad, throw a battery in the back and i bet it will solve any voltage drop at all

well I have 267 amps @ 2k on a dyno sheet to prove what mechman does, and almost 160 @ idle:crazy:

all I know...hard to beat em for the price
