Where can I start my career in car audio?

I have come to love my cars sound system. I am obsessed with installing speakers and tweaking amps right now...but I really have no idea what I'm doing. I am just playing it all by ear. There is a science to this art and I want to learn it. Where can I begin? I will work for free at any place that will teach me. If there is some kind of car audio schooling let me know! I don't want to keep tinkering like a kid, I want to build like a pro.

Find a shop in your area and ask to speak to the owner/manager. Im sure theyll greenhorn ya aka make you clean shop and stuff. Worth a try? You're not going to make a lot of money in doing it FYI

There are several car audio schools. Google it. You can start at a shop and get your MECP Basic certification. Don't expect a car audio job to spoon feed you any knowledge. Especially don't expect anyone to take you seriously if you act like you know better.

Actually I don't know anything at all! That's why I want to learn! I am going to check out the school and hopefully with a certification I can find a job at SoundFX or XL Audio or something...thank you!

My last new guy, started by sweeping the floors for free. go talk to one of the shops and ask. work hard and turn off your phone when you are there.
