I wouldn't even consider RAAMmat "far superior" either... deadener is usually going on doors and trunks... it doesn't get 160 degreees inside a car or trunk. IMO, you don't need your deadener to hold up against 400 degree heat....
he point of having a high heat tolearnce is 2 fold
1. so it doens melt off like asphalt mats have a clear history of doing. cars easily get over 160 degrees inthe summer time. do a few searches and you will see how often they fail.
2. the higher the heat tolerance the more solid the elastomer will remain during high temps. SO... at 200 dgrees a mat with a heat rating of 500 degrees will remain solid and will dampen more vibration and sound than an equally thick and dence mat with a heat rating of 300 degrees.
and if you look at the Adhesion tests... v1SE without a doubt DESTROYS every other deadener. But I guess people don't want to see that... an eD product might look good.
That would be like saying. "yeah, but look at audiobahn subs, they havfe way more chrome than everything else out there, gues you dont tant to see the facts for what they are??!?!"
um....
adhesion strength (bond strength) has NOTHING to do with how well a product performs. a product with a bond strength of 2 lbs will dampen just as well as a product with a bond strength og 500 lbs provided the density and weight and elastomeric consistantcy are all equal. Asphalt mats have awesome adhesion strength. unfortunaately this is a bunk test becase it shows nothing..
the real adhesion test comes with the different temp ratings, in which case, edead could not even stand the weight of a dime at higher ratings... how long do you think that little weight and paperclip would have lasted at 160 degrees?
Basically, v1SE performs below average in one test and far, FAR superior in the other..
far supirior in the chrome factror test and nothing esle...
But this doesn't even matter now that v1SE^2 is out... which according to Ben, "Becomes more like Dynamat Extreme in every way..." Which I'm assuming means you can cook it all day in the oven so it will do good in some deadener showdown and people will stop giving him greif for another "crap product." And oh yeah, it's even cheaper.
According to ben the first version is butyl and has a heat rating of 400 degrees..
"Acording to Ben" doen not hold a lot of weight inthe sound deadening industry..
The product they have release IS a good one, and is closer to dynamat Extreme, but closer is not the same as equal or better than..
SDS already proved that Rammat is the clear choise for value and quality.
Do a search and see howmany people have thier asphalt mats melt every year... or better yet, keep an eye out htis summer for a wave of threads entitled "my damper melted" .
This is not debatable... asphalt mats have a histor of failure
