When you have subs do you ever turn the speaker bass down so it can go louder?

you shouldn't have your bass on your cd player on at all set it to 0. it's bad for your speakers.
doesn't that only depend if the boost clips your speakers or not? i thought that's why if you say like boost at certain frequencies, you adjust the gain for it so they won't clip...or am i wrong?

just asking cause i'm not an audiophile, i don't like flat frequenices. i like to put some life into my music as i call it lol. i usually like some boost around 40hz cause to me personally it sounds more punchy and lively.

my friend likes everything flat and to me it sounds boring. but i guess its a preference thing.

if you have subs on, you most likely won't be able to hear the bass from your other speakers. So what is the point of having the bass above zero.
I'll put it in the negatives is what I'm saying

And about the fader, the back speakers are stock so I put a lil more of the fader towards the front speakers

ohh my..... dude just take out your back speakers and amp up your front components and your subs and just use the head unit for a volume controll
The subs will use the HU volume. I even have a SW control on my HU. I mean turn the bass down so my speakers can go louder and not distort.

Also what is TP on my jvc in dash

Like keep subs on but turn the bass thru the speakers Down so it's not as scratchy. Also is it normal that once i get components to use the fader to put more music thru them since those are my better speakers.

If this doesn't make sense I can reword. Newb here.
first. you should be setting your peramiters according to how you listen to your music.

I have no idea what equipment your running. but.

If you have comps in the front, coaxials 6x9 or something in the back and your running them off a 4 channel amp, then you "should be able to match gains to each speakers desired voltage requirment or close to it.

If you plan to crank it full tilt often, then you might want to set the high pass filter around 80-125. depends if your gear has any down slope properties..

My crossover points are 125hz @ -6db slope. full tilt zero distortion. unclipped clean power.

Now the bass. Your sub stage should be done in the same fashion, different peramiters. match the volt requirments and freq response crossover slopes.

If you bas over powers the mids then you can always back the gain down.

You realy need to tell us every peice of equipment you have so you can get more accurate answers.

This..most subwoofers in correctly built boxes will drown out any bass coming from your 6.5s (or whatever you have). Set it down to 0, let the sub do its' job.
