I have a credit question, i took a loan my car $10,500, paid on it for a year and decided i hated paying every month so i paid it off completely in cash.

Several factors could be at play.

1) Information was input improperly by the lender, resulting in the tradeline not being reported on "your" credit report. A typo in the SS#, etc could result in it not being reported properly.

2) There are 3 main credit reporting agencies, not all lenders report to all 3 companies. They could be reporting to Transunion, but the report you viewed was an Equifax report and so the tradeline doesn't appear.

3) They don't report their accounts to any of the credit reporting agencies. Rare, but possible. Expecially if it was a very small, locally owned and operated bank or Credit Union. There is a local bank in my area that just started reporting their accounts to the credit agencies about 3 years ago, for example.

Those are the first things that come to mind. Best thing to do is call the lender and have them investigate.

It'd be alot better but When I was 20 I broke an apartment lease due to a breakup w/ a girl ;and about a year later I got evicted from another apartment because my crappy @ss roommate quit his job & I couldn't make rent. We had cosigned each other. I paid both debt's off so they didn't destroy me but it still did a little damage.
