i have my 15" IA LI 4 ohm dvc wired for 2 ohms on my hifonics 1208d.. so it should put out 900w at full gain right? well the gain is like 3/4 of the way up so im getting 600-650.. whats wrong with turning the gain all the way up so im getting 900?

I know someone that has 2 sony xplod 400 RMS 2 channel amps, each amp is bridged and wired to a 300RMS 10'' at 3ohms and the gain is turned up all the way up and nothing has blown up and its been over a year like that.

i used my mtx 2300x at full tilt never had any problems, i used my orion 2500d's (4 of them) mostly at full tilt and never had any problems... i just know how to burp them at the correct volume (way lower than if i had the gains set lower of course).

the correct way is preferred but if you want to try it your own way then by all means do it and the best of luck to you.

correct me if im wrong but more gain=more watts right?

so buying a 1200 rms amp and setting it at 3/4 gain is only getting you 900..

ive heard from many people its a bad idea to turn gain all the way up.. i just want to know why

becuase xplods are the SHIT....

they were built with integrated flux capacitors //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

If the gain is not set correctly for the impedance load and the input signal the amp will start to clip really bad. With my last statment I was just proving a point that it depends on the set up.

Nothing is wrong with it if you have such a low input voltage that it needs to be set that high.

Incorrectly or improperly turning the gain up all the way isn't a great idea, however.
