keep Old Zapco or Upgrade ...

I have an old zapco 500.1 ref which powered a Polk 10 sub (SR104-DVC) in my last car.

With my new car im planning reusing the sub setup expect a new custom box and i would like to use the sub closer to its full potential... which i believe is 700w RMS @ 4 ohms without sound quality loss

I ve been looking at Soundstreams (ex. TRX2.640) , but hear they arent as good as they used to be... i noticed on this forum people recommending Crossfire over soundstream, so now im looking at TRA550... this a solid amp for my setup?

zapco and other real highline are a little more $$$ than i plan on spending again

Im trying to find an amp close to 700 RMS ( a real 700 lol) and THD close to the zapcos or lower of course!

Yeah i agree it'll be tough to beat the old Zapco quality

unless you want to spend a lot of dough for new zapco

i would go with a ref 1100.1 if i were you. a 750.2 isnt really enough power difference to justify spending the money. and you wont get a better quality amp. believe it or not, the 500.1 has a really cool design. it is one of the better zapco amplifiers.

Yeah and i would bet that zapco puts out more than the 500 watts its rated for

and i don't see that sub handling more, if you after more output add another sub and find another Ref 500.1

I have wasted money a few times going away from my old arcs then going back. you might find another zapco to match and just double up
