I love lamp.
Its a dell inspiron with windows vista home premium, its worked flawlessly for the last year but the other day I closed it pretty hard and dropped it from about 8" off the ground, when I powered it on next it does some kind of disk scan, gives me the option of starting in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, or start windows normally. When i start windows normally it will work ok like it is now, then freezes up very easily. I tried to do a system restore but there are no saved restore points, what should I do? I don't care about losing my pics/music/games whatever, I just want my computer to work again!!!

****. Wish I knew what to tell ya. But I'm guessin u knocked somethin loose. Open it up and push everything back down to make sure everything is seated tightly. That's the only suggestion I have. On another note, I just picked up one of those mach 5 ixl that u have in your sig. How does it sound to you? I am gonna run one at 1000 wrms. How's it treatin you? Sorry to get off subject

I'm pretty sure he realizes it wasn't a good thing to do. I'm guessing he wants to know what he did to it as a result of dropping it.

During start up hold the ctrl button down and press F11 this will bring up the re-install windows option along with all driver that is stored on your hardrive. Use this to restore windows.

It sounds to me like a fan is not working after being dropped and your computer is over-heating, causing it to freeze so restoring windows may not fix the problem.
