whats wrong with my amp???

i have an infinity betadigital 100 and ive got it pushing a RF HE2 the sub is recommended at 400 watts RMS and when the amp is bridged it puts out 400 watts RMS...the problem is when i turn up the volume the amp shuts down....i kno it has an automatic shut down but i dont get y its doin it??? does ne one kno whats goin on??

how is the amp wired and what is the impedeance of the amp and the resistence of the sub? basicly what ohm load is the amp seeing and what size wires are you running to the amp???

im not sure what ohm load im runnin the sub....but ive got 4 gauge wire coming from my battery to a distribution block(i dont kno if thats needed though) then from the block ive got 8 gauge into the amp and also 8 gauge ground wire....how do i kno what ohm load im puttin into the amp???

How are the subs wired? Parallel or Series? TO check the ohm load look on the magnet of your subs.

if it's an he2 its prolly got dual 4 ohm coils....and i'm guessing you are running it in paralell...so your amp is seeing a 2 ohm mono load....if your amp isn't 2 ohm mono stable then it will get to hot and shut down....the only way to cure the prob is to buy an svc 4 ohm sub, or wire your existing sub in 8 ohms....but then your amp will put out half the power at 8 ohms so thats useless, or buy a new amp that is stable down to 2 ohms.

but the amp doesnt really get hot it just shuts down when it starts hittin hard?? like when a song goes quite then all the sudden it hits a really hard bass note it will shut off when i have it turned up...but ur right i think i am runnin a 2 ohm load into the amp and its only stable to 4 ohm so is all i can do is buy another amp??

I really dont see the amp running at 2 ohms killing the amp that quick. I mean I have had a couple of amps that were only 4 ohm stable and I ran them for years at 2 ohms.

I had this problem back a few years ago, dang wish I could remember what it was. Let me think a while hopefully I will remember.
