distortion and on the weaker side of their power ratings.Just curious, why did you find them to be absolute garbage?

funny how you try to put down and amp with a quote from one of the most respected guys in the amp business, not to mention the guy who designed the amp you are trying to put down. i had two 500/1s, a 300/2, a 450/4, a couple 1000/1s, and a 250/1. i no longer own any of them.wonder why robert zeff himself then stated in his review of the jl slash amp "“This amplifier has what perfect reproduction of audio requires: good slew rate, low distortion, high damping, and high output current delivery.”
“In pure audiophile terms, I doubt that you could do better than the 300/2.”
it is 1.5-4 ohms, but yet they have been proven to make more power at 4 ohms than at two. they back off at lower ohms to prevent overheating. if you can, try to keep them at 4 ohms. it has the ability to operate at 1.5-4 ohms without shutting off, but it will perform best at 4. oh, and i bet you 20 bucks that you are clipping it.i have the 500/1 and i love the way it sounds, it pushes my type r 10" to it max with clean sound and it doesnt even brake a sweat.
one key feature i like about this amp is that you can use preaty much any impedance from 1.5ohms to like 8ohms i belive and it will deliver the same amount of power.
it pushes very clean sound. very sound quality oriented amp.
i havent goten it to clip yet. "not trying to ither" and is under rated on the power output.
my next amp will be the 300/4,
JL amps is one of few products i would buy again ones this one dies.
now if the A series have the slash series internals i bet theyre a hell of an amp.
i have conected the amp to an oscilloscope and had a clean sine wave no cliping. i did it in steps of 5hz from 20hz to 120hz, no cliping, with a 2ohms load. im not saying these amps are the best in the world. im saying that they are very very very good freaking amps.it is 1.5-4 ohms, but yet they have been proven to make more power at 4 ohms than at two. they back off at lower ohms to prevent overheating. if you can, try to keep them at 4 ohms. it has the ability to operate at 1.5-4 ohms without shutting off, but it will perform best at 4. oh, and i bet you 20 bucks that you are clipping it.
bet you thats what hitler would've done.might as well lock this thread. before people starting getting all butt hurt.
