Whats wrong with chevy cavaliers?

Im pretty mechanically inclined so maintence wouldnt be a problem, i can most likely change out the engine or ***** or whatever if i ever need to. I know newer cars arent made as good as they used to be, im used to old ones. So this will be my first newer car if i do get one. The same person also has an 03 monte carlo for sale for 2700 i think. If i do end up getting the cavy i would probly do mods to make it run better, like a cold air intake, or maybe other stuff. No fart can though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
The newer Cavaliers are better than the old Iron Dukes. I'd take the Monte Carlo if doesn't have the DOHC 3400. If it has the 3800, it's win. Gas mileage wouldn't be much less either.

I dislike the bodylines on the newer ones. At least 03 up. The front resembles a retarded catfish. I also preferred the interior to an extent.

The more streamlined ones were nice once they got rid of all the plastic molding, or if you bought the trim level that lacked the plastic molding.

I beat the shit out of my 91. Only problem that car had was cancer level rust. I went through two brake lines, a fuel line, and eventually the gas tank gave. No actual bumper in the back to speak of. The cosmetic one, sure. The one that'd keep that F150 from killing me as quickly? Nope. I blame that on whoever owned it long before me. My brother's 89 is still alive with the person he sold it to. Guy fixed a couple electronic shorts, and it runs fine. The shorts were a result of a rearend collision that had enough force to misalign the doors and hood.

For driving where you need to go, they are fine. As any other car, they'll treat you as you treat them.

The DOHC ones that they put in the Monte Carlo's had problems.
I just looked it up and they put these in 95-97 Monte Carlo's. The 2000-2005 Monte Carlo's use the LA1 OHV 3400 which is a better motor. I'd definitely go for the Monte Carlo. I doubt you'll see much difference in gas mileage either.

a 2003 car for $1500... that should answer yer question right there.

all in all, they arent horrid, but are known to have a lot of mechanical driving issues as well as faulty electronics.
X2 number one there a chevy number 2 a lot of them have leaks weather it be in the trunk or in the front seat. They are very poor on there resell value and they look terrible.
