What's the overall opinion of Elemental Designs?

IMO eD is a joke of a company.... Good at marketing poor quality products.

Just look and the 6.5" subs... If that wasn't made for the sole purpose of seeing how big of a surround and magnet you can put on a 6.5... very cheap and thrown together in appearance IMO...

only thing i seen on the 6.5 that wasnt decently thought out was the location of the terminal posts. its still easier to use that 6.5 over a driver like the xxx where the pods stick out like 6"...i dont think either is really a bad driver though just wouldnt use'm

Please explain how the enclosure is going to be THAT drasticly different than one for a XXX mid.

Exactly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif But their Kv.2 series of subs are total junk IMO //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I disagree. Although it could be that I'm just really good at installing systems.

They break //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Threads get started at ISUX all the time about broken eDuh products..of course they all get locked fairly quickly to protect their "image"

Could be a user thing more than the amp. Maybe they have an amp wired to 2 or 1 ohm that is stable to 4 ohms. Maybe they live in a hot place and should install an external fan. I did this for my system just to make sure my amps stay cooler. I don't own ed amps but I know someone that does that has had no problems.

Why does it matter if someone else builds your products? The computer industry does a lot of this. Sears rebadges other manufacturers products with their name but their products are some of the best on the market. They take an existing product from a manufacturer and have them make some changes to make the product better.

That or I guess you can be impressed fairly easily //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

I haven't had any of their products fail. Their current subs kv2 reproduce music well. It was ran in the proper sealed enclosure size for sq though.

It's like someone said there is more room for error with products made by jl. JL builds their products so even if you don't know what you're doing it will sound decent and tend to stay together.

Why are these threads even made? There's plenty of information already on the company that warrants no more threads of this nature to be made. You have people on both sides of the fence for the company, and whether or not they have a good product, customer service, etc. . . , you won't know FIRSTHAND until you yourself actually use it.

People have bad experiences and list them, they get $hit on.

Just like any other product from any other company, you won't know if you will like it until you have experience with it. You can do research and ask for opinions, but in the end, that's all you get.

Again my point is made. UndercoverPunk, please explain what eD equipment you have used that demonstrates it's poor quality and how did eD handle your complaint?

I have a lot of eD stuff because it is good and cheap. Over all I've been very happy with their products and customer service has been just fine.
I find that eD's forum icixsound.com is typically much more civil and helpful than this one.
You're a eD fanboi arent you? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Please define "fanboi". I see no reason not to say I personally had a good experience and to question others purely to demonstrate a bias on their part.

It is one thing to say that you have heard and read negative comments about a company that have influenced you not to patronize them. It is quite another thing to go around saying a company is "a joke" and "Good at marketing poor quality products".

If you cannot back up what you say personally then you are marketing gossip and what people call a "hater". I guess I would rather be labeled a "fanboi" than be a gossiping hater.

I have experience with old **** cone 12k's, they are fine, no real complaints about them as I got them cheap as hell for a friend. I've also used edead SE and regular, and I've seen V3, none of which impressed me in the least. I couldn't have possibly applied the edead any better and it still falls off. But once again it was very cheap when I got it, but even at that price I wouldn't buy it again. I've been contemplating buying one of those monstrosities of a 6.5 if I see one used for cheap to hear just how it sounds and look at the build quality further... but have absolutely no intention of running it in my car, I'll stick to my extremi.

I've never filed a complaint with eD and never will, because I won't be buying anything directly from them. I never said anything about their coustomer service, so you must have been thinking about someone else when you asked me how they handled my complaint.

I havn't used any of the eD badged amps, but I have used Avionixx before, and while I don't hate the amp too much, let's just say I don't run it anymore.

No I don't have long standing hardcore experience with all of eDs products, but what I have dealt with, I'm not impressed with. Sorry, that's just how it is.
