What's the overall opinion of Elemental Designs?

I have been curious about the quality of this stuff since I started visiting this forum. It seems that they have a strong following on the net. Hell, I can't count the number of times I have seen "buy a nine.1 man" from people who have either never owned one or have never owned anything else. And there are the "those big companies are just screwing you over, there products are no better that these" guys. What are they going to say when or if their favorite small company becomes a major player in the market? No amount of marketing could have put the large companies where they are if there product was indeed ovepriced crap.

the quality of the stuff (i have used) are great. like i said, never crapped out other than the edead.

From what I can gather, they make GREAT amps, but the subs are so-so and designed for SQ.

So let me get this straight "designed for sound quality" is a bad thing?????....That reminds me a something a kid said to me at recent car show...."You know subs were made because of rap music" Equally dumb! Oh and by the way......Its called a bass drum not KICK!

Exactly where did I say it was a bad thing? From what I've heard they're SQ subs. Where did you find the negativity in that statement? I happen to be MORE attracted to them because they are SQ subs.

I have a lot of eD stuff because it is good and cheap. I thought I had a problem with my Avionixx amp, they hooked me up with a repair shop quick. Over all I've been very happy with their products and customer service has been just fine.

Lots of people love to jump on the haters bandwagon because it's fun (juvenal) to trash on people on the internet.

Some individuals truely have had issues with eD (that's fine) but many do not and I find that eD's forum icixsound.com is typically much more civil and helpful than this one.

Just like with any company you should research before you buy but be careful with forums because many like to rehash the same stuff over and over and over. Figure out what you want and if you're really interested in eD go on their forum and see if someone local has their equipment and go listen to it.

I'd be curious how many here have actually had eD equipment and had eD screw them over? I bet it is very few.

That's because every post that puts any sort of negative light on eD is deleted and the poster banned. Anything that is considered to be contrary to the popular opinion is promptly deleted and the user banned aswell.

It seems quaint and pleasant because anybody who doesn't conform to the forum's beliefs is banned and their posts deleted.

I myself haven't had any problems with them, but that doesn't change the fact I'll never do business with them again.

That's fine. You can speak for yourself and you can comment on how they run their forum. Got no problems with that.

Maybe I jumped the gun on squeak since he was commenting on the forum which is open territory.

I've owned quite a few of their subs, ED K Flatcone, B212, B312, ED 12 O flatcone, and currently the ED 8A. I have never had one problem with them, only bad thing that ever happened was my b312 showed up with the basket cracked, Called em up, and I had a new one in a week and a half. All of their subs continue to impress me, and I would probably buy one of their new ones however I've sorta fallen out of the constant buying stage, as I really don't even hang around the forums much anymore.

I've been around long enough to know all the shit that went down with ben, and it sucks. I see where everyones hatred comes from and that may have some bearing on my next purchase, but what pisses me off are the people who have no f'ing clue what they're talking about and just hate ED. Their products are not shit, they have had problems in the past but I'd love to see how many people could put up a problem THEY had with a new driver. I'm not running around with a hard-on for ed, but this constant bashing is rediculous.
