Yeah it's possible, I had 4-12's mounted like that, so I wouldn't have to build a huge box. Later I changed it back around and there really wasn't a noticeable difference. However, the wiring of the subs is a little bit different. Being that you want the subs to push out, you will have to wire them backwards. Zane, Ramos or someone else might be able to tell you from a more technical point of view.
