What's the deal with wrapping the remote wire with a small ground wire?

I heard you could minimize noise if you twist the remote wire with a ground wire, but what would you connect the ends of the ground wire to?

I'm not talking about the primary ground wire that goes from your amp.

you would connect the ground wire to a ground, so any part of the chassis that is connected to the - pole of your battery

btw, if your signal wires dont cross your + cable, there shall be no noise, except if your HU is some stank-ass garbage (read sony, jvc etc.)
