Not with the hdc3's its not lol. Have you ever run them? Ive installed many in friends cars and one of them did have mechanical sound due to improper break in. Just be carefull on the volume, thats all thats required and set your subsonic filter correctly and youll be fine.run square waves through themjk
"break in" is another term for stretch the surround, and the suspension, but really IMO is more superstition than anything.
