Whats the best setting for my setup

I have all alpine in my car. But the subs sound like crap. Can anyone tell me what setting I should use for the amp and head unit to make the subs hit hard and clear.

Amp: M1000 x2

Gain all the way up, bass boost all the way up, sub level all the way up on the HU, all set.

Honestly whatever sounds best, and do NOT listen to post number 2.

it's around 3/4 on gain and BB and 75 lpf on the amp. Head unit SW out is maxed but isn't hitting hard. My old Sony equipment hit harder and it was way less watts rms.

I'd say get a custom made box for them, and have a shop set the gains for you...there may be a gain setting tutorial on here (probably is) if you do a quick search

old box was sealed too. My understanding of clipping is very vague can you please explain.
